Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 24, 2026
1. Purpose of This Policy
This Privacy Policy (the "Policy") describes how Jakon Nete ("Jakon Nete," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, stores, protects, and shares personal information when you use our website (the "Website") or interact with the intake, registration, waiver, scheduling, donation, communication, and other processes we operate through or in connection with it.
Jakon Nete is a New Mexico nonprofit religious corporation based in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Because our religious activities include ceremony and other practices for which participant safety is important, we collect some information that is more sensitive than the information collected by a typical informational website. This may include health and mental-health information and records reflecting participation in, or interest in participating in, our religious practices. We recognize the sensitive nature of this information and seek to handle it accordingly.
If you have questions about this Policy or would rather discuss a privacy concern directly, please contact us at connect@jakonnete.org.
2. Information We Collect
Information You Voluntarily Provide
You do not have to provide personal information simply to browse most portions of the Website.
However, when you contact us, complete an intake or application, register for a ceremony or event, sign a waiver, schedule a meeting or session, refer someone, provide an emergency contact, subscribe to communications, or make a donation, we collect the information you choose to submit.
Depending on the interaction, this may include:
- Name, pronouns, email address, phone number, and general location;
- Date of birth;
- How you heard about us and, where applicable, who referred you;
- Emergency contact name and contact information;
- Dietary restrictions;
- Prescription medications, over-the-counter medications, and supplements you are taking;
- Medical, health, and mental-health information you choose to disclose, including updates provided before a ceremony;
- Prior experience with ceremony or related practices;
- Responses to intake, registration, waiver, follow-up, and participant-safety questions;
- Scheduling information and communications with us; and
- Other information you voluntarily provide.
Sensitive Health and Participant-Safety Information
We request health and medication information for participant safety.
Certain medications, medical conditions, mental-health conditions, or combinations of circumstances may be relevant to whether participation is appropriate or to how we prepare for a gathering. We therefore ask participants to provide complete and accurate information where requested.
We do not collect this information for the purpose of providing medical, psychological, psychiatric, or other licensed healthcare treatment or advice.
We do not use health or mental-health information for advertising or marketing.
Please do not send us sensitive information we have not requested or do not reasonably need. In particular, please do not provide Social Security numbers, government identification numbers, bank account credentials, or full payment-card information through ordinary forms, email, or correspondence.
Information About Your Relationship With Jakon Nete
We may maintain records concerning your relationship with us, including:
- Ceremonies and events for which you applied, registered, or attended;
- Meetings or sessions you scheduled;
- Participant or application status;
- Waivers and agreements you completed;
- Safety or eligibility determinations;
- Donations you made;
- Communications and correspondence with us; and
- Relevant follow-up information.
Because Jakon Nete is a religious organization, some of these records may inherently indicate that you participated in, sought to participate in, or otherwise had a relationship with our religious community or practices.
We treat that information as sensitive.
Information About Other People
In limited circumstances, you may provide information about another person, such as an emergency contact or someone you are referring to us.
Please provide another person's information only where you have permission or another appropriate basis to do so.
Information Collected Automatically
When you use the Website, our servers and service providers may automatically receive and record standard technical information, which may include:
- IP address;
- Browser, device, operating-system, and similar technical information;
- Date and time of requests;
- Pages, forms, or other Website features requested or accessed;
- Referring page or similar request information;
- Session identifiers, authentication information, and cookies or similar technologies used to maintain Website sessions and functionality;
- Language, time-zone, or other necessary Website preferences;
- Error, diagnostic, security, and system-log information; and
- Technical or behavioral signals used to detect automated traffic, abuse, fraud, or security threats.
We use cookies and related technologies primarily to operate and secure the Website, maintain user sessions, remember necessary preferences, support authentication, and protect public forms and systems from automated abuse.
Some Website features use third-party services. For example, Google reCAPTCHA may automatically collect technical and interaction information for security and anti-abuse purposes. When third-party tools or embedded services are used, those providers may also receive technical information directly from your browser or device in accordance with their own privacy policies and practices.
We do not use the Website for behavioral advertising and do not intentionally use cookies or similar technologies to track visitors across unrelated websites for advertising purposes.
Do Not Track
We do not track you or collect your information across third party websites or online services. Thus, we do not receive Do-Not-Track signals, or other similar signals. To the extent that we do receive any such signals, we will not comply with them as it is not an aspect of the functionality of our Website.
3. How We Use Information
We may use the information we collect to:
- Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Website;

- Administer registrations, scheduling, waivers, and participant records;
- Process, record, and acknowledge donations;
- Meet nonprofit, accounting, recordkeeping, tax, and legal obligations;

- Establish, exercise, or defend legal rights; and
- Comply with applicable law.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not rent or trade personal information, and we do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own independent marketing purposes.
4. How We Share Information
We do not share personal information with third parties except as described in this Policy or as otherwise authorized by you.
Within Jakon Nete
Personal information may be available to directors, staff, facilitators, spiritual leaders, contractors, volunteers, or others working with Jakon Nete where access is reasonably necessary to perform their responsibilities.
We seek to limit access according to role and need.
Health, medication, mental-health, and participant-safety disclosures are intended to be available only to people who reasonably need the information to evaluate participation, prepare appropriately, respond to safety concerns, or otherwise carry out related responsibilities.
Service Providers
We use third-party service providers to help operate our organization and Website. Those providers may process information on our behalf to the extent reasonably necessary to provide their services.
Current examples include:
- Google Workspace, email, calendars, documents, and related organizational communications;
- Zeffy, donation processing. Payment-card information is handled by Zeffy and its payment providers rather than being stored directly by Jakon Nete;
- Google reCAPTCHA, protection of public forms from automated abuse;
- Website hosting, infrastructure, and backup providers, operation, storage, security, and backup of our Website and organizational systems; and
- Other service providers that we may reasonably use for scheduling, communications, administration, security, or similar organizational functions.
We seek to provide service providers only the information reasonably necessary for them to perform their functions.
Their processing of information may also be governed by their own terms, privacy policies, and contractual obligations.
Event, Program, and Collaborating Partners
From time to time, Jakon Nete may work with venues, facilitators, Spiritual Leaders, partner organizations, or other collaborators in connection with ceremonies, gatherings, educational programs, travel, reciprocity initiatives, or other activities. In those situations, we may share limited personal information when reasonably necessary to coordinate the activity, communicate with participants, arrange accommodations or logistics, support participant safety, or fulfill responsibilities associated with the collaboration.
The information shared will depend on the nature of the activity and the role of the collaborating organization or individual. We seek to limit such sharing to information reasonably necessary for the particular purpose. Sensitive health, medication, mental-health, or participant-safety information is not intended to be routinely shared with venues or collaborating organizations. Such information may be shared with individuals who have a legitimate role in participant screening, preparation, facilitation, safety, or care where reasonably necessary.
Where a collaborating organization independently collects information from you, its collection and use of that information may be governed by its own privacy policy and practices.
Where appropriate, we may also ask for your authorization before sharing information with a particular partner or collaborator.
We do not provide collaborating organizations with broader access to Jakon Nete participant records merely because they are involved in an event or program.
Emergencies and Safety
If we reasonably believe that disclosure is necessary to respond to an immediate or serious risk of death, significant physical harm, or another emergency, we may disclose information reasonably necessary for that purpose to emergency medical personnel, your emergency contact, public safety personnel, or others able to assist.
This is one reason we may request emergency contact information.
Government and Legal Requests
From time to time, we may receive requests for information from government agencies, courts, law enforcement, or other third parties.
We value the privacy and sensitivity of participant information. Where legally and reasonably available to us, we will seek to require valid legal process before disclosing personal information in response to a government or third-party demand.
We may disclose information where we have a good-faith belief that disclosure is required by applicable law or is reasonably necessary to establish, exercise, or defend the legal rights of Jakon Nete or another person.
Where permitted by law and reasonably practicable, we may notify you of a legal demand seeking information specifically about you before disclosure.
Organizational Changes
If Jakon Nete undergoes a merger, reorganization, dissolution, transfer of operations, or similar organizational change, personal information and organizational records may be transferred to a successor or related organization as part of that transaction.
Where the change would materially affect the handling of sensitive participant information, we will make a reasonable effort to provide notice before the transfer where practicable.
5. Newsletters, Organizational Updates, and Essential Communications
Newsletter and General Organizational Communications
At certain points where you provide your email address, for example, when scheduling a meeting, you may consent to us adding you to our newsletter or general communications list.
Where that notice is provided, we may send you occasional communications concerning Jakon Nete, our community, events, projects, fundraising, or related organizational activities unless and until you opt out.
You may opt out of newsletter and marketing communications at any time.
Our newsletter emails will provide an unsubscribe mechanism, and you may also contact us at connect@jakonnete.org and ask to be removed from general communications.
We will honor your communication preferences and opt-out requests as required by applicable law.
Essential and Relationship Communications
Opting out of newsletters or general organizational communications does not prevent us from sending communications reasonably necessary in connection with something you have requested or undertaken with us.
These may include communications concerning:
- An application or intake you submitted;
- A ceremony or event for which you registered or are being considered;
- Participant preparation or safety;
- Changes to event logistics;
- A meeting or session you scheduled;
- A waiver, agreement, or required form;
- Follow-up reasonably connected to your participation;
- A donation or transaction;
- Security or privacy matters; or
- Other communications reasonably necessary to administer our relationship with you or the activity you requested.
These communications are operational in nature rather than general newsletter or promotional communications.
Where practical, we keep general newsletter preferences separate from communications needed to administer participation and other direct relationships with Jakon Nete.
6. Security
We use reasonable physical, administrative, and technical safeguards intended to preserve the confidentiality, integrity, and security of personal information.
These safeguards may include:
- Encrypted connections to the Website;
- Encrypted or otherwise protected backups;
- Access controls and authentication;
- Role-based and need-to-know limitations intended to restrict access to personal information;
- Additional access limitations for sensitive health, medication, mental-health, and participant-safety information;
- Restrictions on access to sensitive health and participant information;
- Backup, recovery, and system-maintenance practices intended to protect organizational data and support restoration in the event of loss or disruption;
- Security measures applied to the servers, systems, and infrastructure used to operate the Website and related organizational tools; and
- Use of established service providers for functions such as hosting, communications, security, storage, backup, and payment processing.
No method of electronic transmission, storage, or security is perfectly secure.
Accordingly, while we take reasonable measures to protect personal information, we cannot ensure or warrant that security measures will always prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, loss, or destruction.
If we discover a security incident involving personal information, we will investigate and respond as reasonably appropriate and provide notice to affected individuals where required by applicable law.
7. Children
Jakon Nete's participant programs are intended for adults.
The Website and our participant processes are not directed to children under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through those processes.
If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us at connect@jakonnete.org, and we will take appropriate steps to review and remove the information.
8. Third-Party Websites and Services
Our Website may contain links to or integrate with services operated by third parties.
This Policy describes Jakon Nete's handling of personal information. It does not control the independent privacy practices of third parties.
When you leave our Website or provide information directly to a third-party platform, that service's own terms and privacy policy may apply.
We encourage you to review the privacy practices of third-party services where appropriate.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may revise this Policy from time to time.
The current version will be posted on the Website with its Effective Date.
Your continued use of the Website after a revised Policy becomes effective is subject to the revised Policy to the extent permitted by applicable law.
